Original articles may quote not more than 30 sources, review articles — not more than 60 and other materials — up to 15.
Bibliography in Russian and References in English should be included into the Template for Authors file. Find the requirements to and samples of execution of the list of references here and in Requirements to Filling in Templates for Author section. The Bibliography in Russian and References in English should name all sources AS QUOTED, and NOT in alphabetic order.
The author is responsible for correctness of the bibliographic data.
Execution of Source References:
1. Within the body of the text manuscript references should be provided in Arabic numerals enclosed in square brackets; standard font should be used (the same as in the surrounding text), and references SHOULD NOT be highlighted (in italic, bold or underlined font) or converted in upper or lower case.
2. If an argument is relevant to several sources from the bibliography, the numerals should be separated by commas WITH NO SPACES. . Example: [3,4].
3. If it is necessary to refer to more than 2 consecutive sources in the bibliography, the references should be combined into a range. Example: [15-17].
4. It is not recommended to use more than three references to one argument. Exceptions are allowed only when it is of utmost importance to presentation of the matter.
Symbols, Acronyms and Units of Measurement
Compound terms or names frequently used in the article may have from 3 to 5 non-conventional acronyms (in round brackets after the full term is first specified). Internationally accepted acronyms should be used in the relevant transcription. Acronyms and abbreviations are allowed only if the full name is given first.

The publishing office may claim charge in the following cases: 1) for publication of coloured illustrations; 2) in case of a large number of illustrations (more than 8).
Articles Preparation
Double-Blind Review.
To ensure double-blind review, it is necessary to make sure that the author and the review had no information about one another. The article authors should delete their names from the article text. If the author refers to their works, it is necessary to include the word author and specify the year of publication instead of the author's surname, article title and other data referring to this publication. Find the instructions for ensuring double-blind review here.
III. Requirements to Filling in Template for Authors
Template File should be downloaded from the site and filled in by the author. The filled template should be submitted via the journal site together with the manuscript file and other accompanying files (specified in the requirements to submission of articles for «Epidemiology and Vaccinal Prevention» journal).
After saving the template file on the computer, it is necessary to fill in all right columns of the template tables (if no data is available put a “-” sign).
Besides meta data, relevant fields of the template contain the abstract and bibliography in Russian and references in English. Additional requirements and recommendations to these sections are given below.
The abstract is a summary of a larger scientific paper, which is published in international databases separately from the basic text and, respectively, should be understandable itself, without reference to the publication. It shall present major aspects of the paper and should not exaggerate or contain data absent in the basic publication. The abstract serves for information purposes (for a library, abstracting service), enabling the reader to understand whether they should read the full text or not.
The abstract of the original article shall repeat the article sections: introduction, goal of research, materials and methods, results and their discussion, conclusions or opinion (with titles of these sections).
The abstract should include:
1. Brief goal. Background may be provided, only if connected with the goal by context.
2. Presenting major issues of the work, it is necessary to keep in mind the following:
- Follow the article history and use its titles as a guideline;
- Skip minor details;
- You are writing for a competent audience, so you may use technical (specialized) terms of your subject, clearly presenting your opinion, also remembering that your article will be available to the international public;
- The text should be consistent, such words as consequently, moreover, for example, the benefits of this study, as a result etc. should be used, or if the arguments are separate, they should logically follow one another;
- Active voice is preferred instead of passive one, i.e. "The study tested” instead of "It was tested in this study";
- The writing style should dense (close), so sentences may be longer than usual.
Bibliography and References: General rules of execution.
1. Number of lists. Subject to the requirements of Russian and international databases, to ensure correct and precise assessment of scientific papers citedness in manuscripts, it is necessary to provide TWO LISTS OF REFERENCES to the sources used in the paper — Bibliography and References.
2. Number of sources. It is necessary to limit the number of references to sources. The recommended number of quoted papers: articles on original research and description of medical cases — up to 30 sources, reviews — up to 60. If reasonably required, the number may be increased as agreed with the publishing office.
3. Type of sources. Any primary sources may be quoted, except for unpublished papers. It is not recommended to refer to dissertations and author's summaries of dissertations also — in such cases a reference to articles published on this matter is preferable.
4. Sequence of sources presentation. Numbered Bibliography and References should be provided at the end of the manuscript and listed consequently one after another under relevant titles: Bibliography and References, namely. The Bibliography in Russian and References in English should name all sources AS QUOTED, and NOT in alphabetic order.
5. Differences in the lists. The Bibliography and References should contain the same sources, in the same sequence and under the same numbers. Differences in execution of references in the Bibliography and References sections are described in detail below.
6. Scope and sequence of information in the references:
- For books — author's/authors’ surname and initials, full title of the book, place of publishing, publishing house, year of publishing, volume or issue;
- For articles in periodicals — author's/authors’ surname and initials, full title of the journal (collection), year of publishing (for collection — also place of publishing and publishing house), volume, No. (issue), first and last pages of the article;
- For articles in non-periodicals (books) — author's/authors’ surname and initials, title of the article, full title of the book (collection), place of publishing, publishing house, year of publishing, first and last pages of the article;
- For theses and texts of reports at conferences (seminars, symposia) — author's/authors’ surname and initials, title of the report, full title of the collection of theses or conference reports, volume, No. (issue), first and last pages of the theses or report text;
- For patents and author certificates — patent document type, No., issuing country, IPC index, title of the invention, author(s), date of application filing, date of publishing and data on the official source where information on the patent document and priority is published;
- For deposited manuscripts — author's surname and initials, full title of the manuscript, name of the organisation, year of publishing, total number of pages, place of deposit;
- For dissertations — author's surname and initials, full title, place and year of defending, specialty code, date of defending and approval, place of defending;
- For electronic publications — author's surname and initials (if any), title of the publication, name of the resource (if any), electronic address (URL), date of reference.
7. Number of authors. Bibliographical description of the source should list all authors, if their number is from one to three. If there are more than 3 authors, it is necessary to put “, et. al.” after the 3d one. (Please note! Comma separating the last author's name from “et al.” is mandatory).
8. Titles and abbreviations. It is not allowed to abbreviate (or otherwise alter) titles of articles and names of journals. Exception: names of English-language journals may be specified in OFFICIAL (!) abbreviation (in the Bibliography — with a dot, in References — without a dot). Correct abbreviation of a journal name may be found in MedLine (NLM Catalog), CAS Source Index, WorldCat or Web of Science catalogue (ISI). If failing to find the official abbreviation of the journal name, specify its full name only.
9. DOI. In all cases when the quoted material has a Digital Object Identifier (doi), it should be specified at the very end of the source description. Check whether the source has doi at http://search.crossref.org or https://www.citethisforme.com. To find doi it is necessary to enter the source name in English into the search line. The site, together with doi, automatically generates correct bibliographical description of the article in English, AMA citation style (Vancouver). Most foreign journal articles from 2000 and many Russian- language articles (published after 2013) are registered in CrossRef system and have a unique doi.
Bibliography: Specific Rules of References Execution
1. Output data. Bibliographical descriptions of references to sources in the Bibliography section should be executed in accordance with GOST R 7.0.5-2008.
